For the first time in history, an openly trans person took part in the Olympics – 25-year-old Quinn, of the Canadian soccer team, played in the opening match this Tuesday. Last year, Quinn came out as a non-binary and trans person to be addressed using the pronoun “they”.
“I know what reality is. Trans-girls are not allowed to play sports. Trans-women face discrimination and bias as they try to fulfill their Olympic dreams,” Quinn wrote on his Instagram.
