Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans won the Best Drama Film award at the 80th Hollywood Foreign Press Association Golden Globe Awards on January 10 in Beverly Hills. Spielberg himself won the award for best director.
In the nomination “Best Comedy Film” won the film “Banshee Inisherina” Film director Martin McDonagh was awarded the “Golden Globe” for best screenplay.
Austin Butler (“Elvis”) and Cate Blanchett (“Tar”) were recognized as the best actors in a drama film, and Colin Farrell (“Banshee of Inisherina”) and Michelle Yeoh (“Everywhere and At Once”) were recognized as the best actors in a comedy film.
Pinocchio Guillermo del Toro won Best Animated Feature. The Best Drama Series award went to House of the Dragon, while The White Lotus won Best Miniseries.
According to Variety, during the ceremony, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was shown a special video message in which he recalled the origins of the Golden Globe Award, which appeared during World War II, and drew parallels with the current war.
“The Second World War has not yet ended, but the situation has changed, everyone already knew who would win. There were still battles and tears ahead, it was then that the Golden Globe Award appeared in honor of the best artists of 1943, Zelensky said. — It is now 2023, the war in Ukraine is not over yet, but the situation is changing. Those who united to support the free Ukrainian people in our common fight for freedom.”
“Millions of people died in World War I. World War II killed tens of millions. There will be no third world war. This is not a trilogy. Ukraine will stop Russian aggression on our land,” he concluded.
