American tennis player Serena Williams has announced that she will not play at the US Open this year due to injury. The tournament will run from August 30 to September 12.
“After careful analysis and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from my hamstring rupture,” wrote Williams on Instagram.
The athlete was injured at the end of June during the first lap of Wimbledon. Then she withdrew from the game, stopping the fight against the Belarusian tennis player Alexandra Sasnovich in the first set with the score 3:3.
