Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan and her fiancé, Italian athlete Luigi Samele, have announced important news.
The couple shared a series of photos from a joint photoshoot on social media, where they also revealed the gender of their future child.
“We’re ready to share our secret. Swipe to the end,” they wrote.
In the final image, the words “It’s a girl” are written across Kharlan’s baby bump, confirming that the couple is expecting a daughter. Olga and Luigi have been together since 2019. In September 2024, Samele proposed to her, and she said yes. In February 2026, Kharlan announced her pregnancy.
At 35, Olga Kharlan is the most decorated Ukrainian athlete in Olympic history, with six medals, including two golds.
At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she won a medal in the individual event and became an Olympic champion in the team competition. After that, she took a break from the sport, although she did not announce her retirement.
