What prompted you to co-found the Social Center “Perspektyva-Obolon”?

The creation and operation of the Social Center “Perspektyva-Obolon” were responses to the needs of the capital’s community. I was born and live in Obolon and care deeply about what happens around me. Our organization unites hundreds of concerned residents who believe that most problems can be solved together. This approach is close to my heart, and I feel at home among like-minded people. I am deeply grateful to my husband, who introduced me to active community work. It’s immensely important for me to contribute in this field, especially now that our country faces severe challenges. After all, our unity and mutual help define our future.

Which of the center’s projects do you consider most successful, and why?

All our projects are successful because most of them are initiated by active Kyiv residents who live nearby and know the issues of our district and city firsthand. I find projects aimed at solving social issues concerning children the most engaging. These include supporting the children of our defenders, orphans, and children with disabilities, and organizing educational and entertainment events for kids.

How has your community work changed since the full-scale war in Ukraine began?

The war has changed everything—our vision and priorities. We realized that our activities must become more adaptive and responsive to people’s needs. We have intensified our work with volunteer teams, and launched new assistance programs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military families, internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, and many others.

What values do you aim to instill in your children through your example?

I strive to instill values in my children that shape not only their lives but also society. The most important ones are love for people and a readiness to help, so they understand the importance of community, especially in challenging times. I also teach them responsibility for their actions and sincerity, as these are the foundations of trusting relationships. And, of course, pride in their country—I want them to know our culture and history and value freedom and dignity. I try to embody all these values in my life because children learn by observing adults.

Do you involve your children in volunteering? If so, how?

Yes, I involve my eldest son, Danylo, in volunteer activities because I believe it’s crucial for his upbringing. Together, we participate in various initiatives, help at charity events, and organize collections for those in need. It’s not just about assistance but also learning. I explained to him why it’s important and the values behind our actions. Together, we deliver aid to the military, and collect toys for orphans—simple yet impactful things. This helps children understand that even small actions can make a big difference.

Are there any traditions or rituals in your family that you value and want to pass on to your children?

Our family cherishes several traditions. First, we have family dinners where we discuss our achievements, worries, and plans. This time together strengthens our bonds and fosters open communication. We also celebrate essential dates and events, maintaining family customs like baking delicious homemade pies. I aim to pass these traditions to my children so they have a sense of belonging and roots, and always know that family is there for them.

What lessons or principles do you consider most important in raising children in today’s world?

In today’s world, I believe several principles are vital: critical thinking, tolerance, and resilience. Children must learn to question and not take information at face value. This will help them become conscious citizens. Tolerance is essential for understanding and embracing the diversity of our world. Lastly, resilience is key to success, as life often presents challenges, and the ability to overcome them will help them achieve their goals.

What challenges do modern Ukrainian women face, in your opinion?

Every Ukrainian woman today demonstrates incredible resilience and courage. Some of us become the backbone of our families, frequently taking on the role of breadwinners while our men are on the frontline. Women are actively involved in volunteering, helping the military and civilians, organizing humanitarian aid, and providing support. Many serve in the Armed Forces, risking their lives to protect the country. In culture, we play a significant role, in creating music and art that reflect our pain and hope. These challenging times demand immense strength from women, and our contribution to Ukraine’s recovery is invaluable.

What do you think could motivate women to engage more actively in community work?

Motivation for women to actively participate in community work can come from various sources. First, it’s important to create communities where women can share experiences, and ideas, and support one another. Such platforms help realize that collective efforts can have a significant impact. Secondly, the success stories of other women who have implemented their projects and changed something in society can inspire. These stories become powerful sources of motivation, showing that making the world a better place is possible.

Have you encountered gender stereotypes in your work? How did you overcome them?

Yes, I have faced gender stereotypes, and unfortunately, this is quite common. For instance, when I started my work in the community sector, I often heard opinions that women are less capable of making decisions or that their initiatives couldn’t be as effective as men’s. I tried to overcome these stereotypes through my actions and example. By actively demonstrating results, and organizing events that make a real difference in people’s lives, I showed that women can and should take on leadership roles. It’s also crucial to have support from other women, as collective efforts can change societal perceptions of women’s roles.

What role does creativity play in your life? Do you see it as a form of self-expression or perhaps as a tool for societal change?

Creativity for me is a profound expression of the soul. It’s a way not only to convey emotions but also to communicate with others on a level words can’t reach. My music is my desire to be heard and understood because every song is a story that can provoke thoughts or even actions. I believe art has a tremendous power to change society, unite people, and inspire new achievements.

What is your main source of inspiration for creating music and songs?

My inspiration comes from my children—their genuine joy and spontaneity—and from the stories and experiences of people I meet during volunteer work. I often draw emotions from daily life: joys, struggles, and the fight for a better future. Each song reflects my feelings and observations. Love for Ukraine and its people is an inexhaustible source from which I draw strength for creativity.

How do you see the role of music and art in supporting and motivating people during difficult times?

In difficult times, music becomes a beacon of hope, offering support and encouragement. It heals wounds, unites people, and gives them strength to move forward. When we listen to songs that reflect our experiences, we realize we are not alone in our struggle. Art can be a powerful tool to soothe the soul, reminding us that life goes on and that together, we can overcome any hardship.

What strategies do you use to maintain a balance between family, community work, and creativity?

Balance is a daily effort that requires awareness and flexibility. I try to plan my time carefully to pay attention to every aspect of my life. Family always comes first, so I strive to spend as much time as possible with my children and husband. At the same time, my community work and creativity are parts of me that inspire and energize me. I believe that by realizing my projects, I set an example for my children of how important it is to serve society and pursue your dreams.
