An incredibly large sandstorm was raging in China. The disaster struck Dunhuang in Gansu province. The sandstorm cloud was reported to have reached 100 meters.
A sandstorm forced police to order drivers to pull off expressways into service areas to ride out the storm. Visibility on roads along the Silk Road in northwest China has dropped to zero.
Note that the city of Dunhuang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the Mogao grottoes. The city is located in the Gobi Desert and is known for its harsh climate.
