Today, the British Royal Family is officially celebrating the anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II. She has been on the throne for exactly 70 years. The day before, the queen made a very important official statement – after she leaves office, her son Charles and his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles, who will still be called the queen, will take the throne. The fact is that it was previously reported that she would not be able to receive this title.
“When the time comes and my son Charles becomes king, I am sure that you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support as you once gave me. And I sincerely wish that Camilla be known as the queen consort,” the queen said in an official statement.
Later it became known that a plan was being drawn up in the palace to transfer power to Prince Charles. Presumably this will happen in 2023 at the request of the Queen herself.
