The 73rd Television Emmy Awards ceremony has ended in Los Angeles. Last year the event took place mostly online, this year the ceremony was held offline.
In the Best Drama Series category, the award went to The Crown (Netflix). Olivia Colman won the Best Actress Award in a Drama Series for her role as Queen Elizabeth II. Among men, this award went to Josh O’Connor for his role as the young Prince Charles in The Crown.
Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher and Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip became Best Supporting Actors in a Drama Series. In total, the series won 11 nominations.
Best Comedy Series: Ted Lasso (Apple TV). Jason Sudeikis and Gene Smart became the best male and female lead in the comedy series.
Anna Waddingham and Brett Goldstein, who also starred in Ted Lasso, received the Best Supporting Actor award.
Best Miniseries: The Queen’s Gambit (Netflix). In 2021, he was among the leaders in terms of the number of victories (11 statuettes, including best director of a miniseries, best cast, costumes, etc.).
Kate Winslet won Best Actress in a Miniseries Award for her role as a detective in Mare of Easttown (HBO). During the awards ceremony, the actress thanked the author of the series for creating a “middle-aged imperfect mom”, thanks to which women saw themselves on the screen.
Peters and Julianne Nicholson won nominations for supporting roles in the miniseries.
“Best Actor in a Miniseries” is Ewan McGregor for “Halston.”
The streaming service Netflix received the most awards (44), finishing in second place last year. But last year’s winner and owner of 130 nominations became the second in the number of statuettes, having received only 19 awards. Disney + has 14 awards and Apple TV has 10.
