German lands want to return more than 2 million doses of vaccines to the government for lack of demand

Німецькі землі через брак попиту хочуть повернути уряду понад 2 млн доз вакцин

Due to lack of demand, the German states want to return at least 2,300,000 doses of vaccines to the federal government.

14 federal states plan to return the vaccine and want to report specific numbers to the health ministry on Monday.

Among other things, the vaccines are planned to be transferred to other countries. By the end of the year, at least 30,000,000 doses of vaccines from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson will be shipped free of charge to third countries, especially developing countries.

Therefore, the state government of Bavaria is still in the process of determining the number of vaccine doses to be returned. Schleswig-Holstein did not provide any information. Only Saar sees no need to return vaccines to the federal government.

The desire to vaccinate has recently dropped significantly among the population, especially the demand for the drug AstraZeneca has fallen. Therefore, the federal states primarily want to return the vaccine from the British-Swedish manufacturer.

One of the most populous federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia no longer sees the need for 1,050,000 doses of vaccine, of which about 922,400 from the manufacturer AstraZeneca and 125,200 from Johnson & Johnson. Baden-Württemberg wants to return 450,000 doses of vaccines, Hesse 185,200 doses and Saxony 150,000 doses.
