Meghan Markle chose not the most trivial scenario for celebrating her 40th birthday. The Duchess announced her 40×40 initiative and encouraged people to devote 40 minutes of their time to supporting women who return to work after a break. Actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy helped her tell more about the new project. Megan and Melissa discussed the issue via video call.
“Reflecting on my 40th birthday and the things for which I am immensely grateful, I came to the conclusion that time is the most important gift. The time we spend with our loved ones; the time when we are doing what we love; the time spent learning, laughing, developing; and the sacred time that is allotted to us on this earth,” shared Megan.
“For my birthday, I asked 40 friends, activists, athletes, artists and world opinion leaders to help launch a global campaign with just 40 minutes to support women returning to work. I hope each of them will help someone to advance in their careers, and I hope that they will inspire others with their example,” Megan said about her idea. Among those already taking part in the initiative: Adele, Gloria Steinem, Stella McCartney.
Prince Harry unexpectedly appeared in the video message. He stood outside the window and demonstrated juggling skills, which made his wife laugh very much. At the end of the video, Megan blew out the candle on the cake and made a wish in the best traditions of the holiday.
