“Palme d’Or” went to horror: the results of the Cannes Film Festival 2021 have been summed up

On July 17, the famous film festival ended in Cannes, which it was decided to hold live in 2021. And here are its results.

The main prize – “Palme d’Or” – was awarded to the French horror film “Titane” directed by Julie Ducournau. The Grand Prix was shared by two films at once: Asghar Farhadi’s film “A Hero” and “Compartment No 6” directed by Juho Kuosmanen.

The jury prize also went to two films. It was received by “Ahed’s Knee” by Nadav Lapid from Israel and “Memoria” by Apichatpong Weerasethakul from Thailand. Leos Carax from France was named Best Director for his musical “Annette”. The best screenplay was awarded to the Japanese film “Drive my car” by Ryusuke Hamaguchi and Oe Takamasa.

The award for Best Actor went to American Caleb Landry Jones (“Nitram”), while the Norwegian Renate Reinsve (“The Worst Person in the World”) was named among women.

Also, the special prize of the festival was awarded to the documentary “Babi Yar. Context” by Sergey Loznitsa. Kira Kovalenko’s Russian drama “Unclenching The Fists” won the Grand Prize in Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard sidebar this year.
