BAFTA may introduce gender-neutral nominations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is considering creating gender-neutral award nominations. Writes about it Deadline. So, the organizing committee of the award plans to abandon the male and female categories in the nominations of actors and actresses. “This is exactly what we are discussing now and will discuss in the future,” BAFTA representatives said.

Earlier, the organizers of the Brit Awards came up with the same initiative. In this way, they expressed their desire “to single out performers solely for their works and music, and not for how they identify themselves or how other people perceive them.”
