Sir David Beckham: Football Legend to Be Knighted

David Beckham is set to receive one of the United Kingdom’s highest honors — the title of Knight Bachelor. His name has been included in King Charles III’s Birthday Honours list, to be officially announced in June 2025. Once confirmed, Beckham will be formally addressed as Sir David Beckham, and his wife will gain the courtesy title Lady Victoria Beckham.

This recognition is a tribute not only to Beckham’s outstanding football career — which included playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, and the England national team — but also to his long-standing charitable work. He has been a committed UNICEF ambassador and an active supporter of initiatives led by King Charles’s foundation.

Although talks of knighthood began back in the 2010s, the honor was delayed due to tax-related concerns that have since been fully resolved. The upcoming knighthood marks a symbolic culmination of Beckham’s transformation from sports icon to a celebrated figure of British cultural and philanthropic life.

The official investiture ceremony is expected to take place later this summer.
