Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro is an animated stop-motion film that reimagines the classic tale of the legendary wooden boy. In it, Pinocchio finds himself on a magical adventure that transcends worlds and reveals the life-giving power of love.
In a recent interview, Guillermo spoke about how much he became attached to Pinocchio when he first saw the film as a child: “It affected me because Pinocchio saw the world the way I saw it,” Guillermo explained. “I was a little pissed that people demand obedience from Pinocchio, so I wanted to make a film about disobedience as a virtue and say that you don’t have to change to be loved.”
Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio will be released on Netflix on December 9th. It stars Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson and Burn Gorman.
