“We’ve Been Waiting for You”: The Liberovs Welcome a Baby Boy

Ukrainian documentary photographers Kostyantyn and Vladyslava Liberov — whose searing frontline images have traveled the world — have celebrated a profoundly personal victory of their own. On November 29, the couple welcomed a baby boy. They named him Noah, after the biblical figure who symbolizes renewal and new beginnings.

The Liberovs shared the news on Instagram with a beautifully composed family portrait taken in the maternity ward. The image captures an intimate moment wrapped in their signature visual language — muted tones, understated emotion, and honesty in every detail. Vladyslava, dressed in a brown striped loungewear set, wearing dark sunglasses and a cap, cradles newborn Noah. Beside her, Kostyantyn sits in matching green stripes, a beanie and glasses framing his direct, slightly tired, yet unmistakably joyful gaze into the camera.

“Hello, little Noah. We’ve been waiting for you. And we promise — life with us will never be boring,” they wrote, attaching their first family photograph.

The couple first revealed the pregnancy in July, sharing a simple and heartfelt rooftop gender-reveal video filmed in Lviv. Cutting into a cake filled with pale blue frosting and decorated with symbolic protective runes, they admitted they both instinctively knew from the beginning: they were expecting a boy.

At the time, Vladyslava noted that her pregnancy felt easy, though deciding whether to bring a child into the world during wartime was something the pair discussed at length. Ultimately, they concluded that there is no such thing as “the perfect moment” — and that life must continue, even amid uncertainty.

Kostyantyn and Vladyslava rose to global prominence for their fearless wartime documentation, traveling to the hottest zones of the conflict to capture moments of devastation, resilience, and truth. Before Russia’s full-scale invasion, they photographed love stories — a poetic contrast to the path their lives later took.

And now, in a world still marked by turmoil, a new chapter begins for the Liberovs. A new hero enters their story — Noah, a child born into chaos, carrying with him quiet, hope, and meaning.
