Apple intends to lease large film locations in Hollywood to expand production of its shows and series.
This is reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing knowledgeable sources. The company is currently considering several possible rental properties. It is expected that the area of the new studio will be about 50 thousand square meters.
Launched in November 2019, Apple TV + streaming service has aired several famous shows and series, including the sports comedy television series Ted Lasso and the drama series The Morning Show. However, in terms of the volume of content, it still cannot match large competitors such as Netflix and Amazon.
To expand its content, the company needs new production facilities. At the same time, according to WSJ sources, it is not so easy to find vacant areas for rent in Los Angeles, since most of them are rented for many months in advance by numerous producers of entertainment content.
