First Wikipedia page auctioned for $750000 as NFT

The first entry on the Wikipedia online encyclopedia website was sold at Christie’s in New York as an NFT token for $750,000.

On January 15, 2001, founder of the online encyclopedia Jimmy Wales chose the phrase Hello, World!.

In addition, the crimson iMac, on which Wales made that very record, was also sold under the hammer. The cost of the lot was 187.5 thousand dollars.

NFT is a digital certificate of ownership of a virtual asset. Moreover, the token itself is unique; it cannot be faked or replaced with another.
