Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has criticized US President Joe Biden for his demand to lower gasoline prices. The American leader said that “now is the time of global danger” and called on the owners of gas stations to take for fuel as much as they themselves “pay for the product.” Bezos said to this that the head of the White House is either delusional or he has a “deep misunderstanding of the basic dynamics of the market.”
“Inflation is too big an issue for the White House to continue to make statements like this,” the businessman tweeted.
Gasoline prices in the US hit historic highs. In mid-June, the cost of a gallon of fuel (3.78 liters) exceeded $5 for the first time. At the same time, annual inflation is breaking records. It has reached a historical maximum over the past 40 years.
This is not the first time Bezos has criticized the economic policies of the White House. Earlier, he accused the US authorities of record inflation and said that they want to “blur this topic.”
