After more than six years away, Céline Dion gave her first full solo concert. On September 12, the singer opened her Paris residency at Plénitude Arena in Nanterre before an audience of nearly 30,000. She began the evening with On ne change pas and was overcome with emotion during the very first song. “I promised myself I wouldn’t cry, but these are tears of joy,” Dion told the audience from the stage.

In 2022, the artist revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle rigidity and painful spasms. Dion was forced to cancel her tour and focus on treatment. Her performance at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games marked her first major return to the public eye, but the Paris concert marked her return to full-scale live performances.

Her comeback was given a distinctly couture treatment. For the evening’s principal look, Jonathan Anderson created a dramatic black Dior gown with layers of intricate pleating, inspired by the Francis Poulenc silhouette from Christian Dior’s Spring/Summer 1950 collection. The look was completed with Boucheron’s The Address necklace, featuring a 10-carat emerald-cut diamond, black lacquer, and pavé-set baguette diamonds. The piece took 1,107 hours to create.

Throughout the evening, Dion also appeared in an Alaïa leather corset, a sculptural Schiaparelli look, a pale pink Givenchy gown with a cape designed by Sarah Burton, and a shimmering black Tom Ford ensemble by Haider Ackermann. The couture became a visual extension of her return—emotional, triumphant, and unmistakably Parisian.
